As a coach, mentor, writer, speaker, or blogger, you have a message to share with the world.
But in today's noisy and crowded online space, how do you make your message stand out and get noticed by the right people?
One powerful way to do that is by creating a signature coaching tool.
In this week's newsletter, I want to introduce you to this concept and show you why it's essential for your success as a messenger.
A signature coaching tool is a one-page teaching framework that simplifies your message and helps your audience gain a visual understanding of your topic. It can take many forms, such as a roadmap, a blueprint, a pyramid, a Venn diagram, or a qualities framework, depending on your niche and expertise.
I've personally used the method for years.
In my first book, The 15 Success Traits of Pro Bloggers, I created a success pyramid to better illustrate the principles of the book. Using the following one-page coaching tool, I ended up creating 7 income streams in 12 months from this tool:
A few years later, when I wrote my next book, Your Message Matters, I created another one-page coaching tool called, The Messenger Roadmap.
Again, I was able to create multiple income streams from this one-page coaching tool you see below:
But why do you need a signature coaching tool?
Here are three powerful reasons:
-
It gives your audience a visual understanding of your topic, which helps them grasp the big picture and connect the dots.
-
It gives your audience a pathway of belonging, which helps them identify where they are in their journey and what steps they need to take next.
-
It forces you to get clarity on your own message, which helps you explain it simply and effectively to others.
Let's look more closely at each point.
1. A Coaching Tool Gives Your Audience a Visual Understanding
When it comes to communicating a complex topic or idea, visuals can often be a powerful tool in helping your audience understand and retain information.
By creating a visual representation of your topic, you can break down complicated concepts into simpler, more digestible parts that are easier to follow.
This is especially important for coaches, teachers, speakers, and other content creators who are trying to help their audience understand and implement new ideas or strategies.
By giving your audience a visual understanding of your topic, you're essentially providing them with a roadmap or blueprint that they can follow. This can help them connect the dots between different pieces of information and see how everything fits together as a whole.
2. A Coaching Tool Gives Your Audience a Pathway of Belonging
Having a clear and well-defined coaching tool gives your audience a sense of belonging and helps them identify where they are in their journey toward their goals.
By breaking down your topic into clear and concise steps, your coaching tool provides a pathway for your audience to follow and guides them toward their desired outcomes. This not only helps them understand what steps they need to take next but also instills a sense of trust and confidence in your coaching methods.
With a visual representation of their progress, your audience can easily track their growth and see how far they've come toward achieving their goals.
3. A Coaching Tool Forces You to get Clarity on Your Own Message
When you create a coaching tool or framework, you are forced to deeply analyze and understand your own message. This process helps you gain clarity and break down your topic into its simplest and most important components.
As a result, you are better equipped to explain your message in a way that is clear and easy for others to understand.
This clarity not only benefits your audience but also helps you effectively communicate your message and build your brand. By boiling down your message into a teaching tool, you are able to clearly communicate your expertise and offer valuable insights to your audience.
In a recent YouTube video, I explain these reasons in more detail and give you some examples of signature coaching tools that successful coaches and authors have used to create multiple income streams from their message.

I hope this newsletter inspires you to create your own signature coaching tool and share your message with the world in a more impactful and memorable way.
